New menu for students

With mess charges increased by the government and a nutritious diet chart prepared by the NIN, TSWREIS students will be served an added variety of foodlike Mysore bonda, poori, chapathi, noodles and idly for breakfast and cookies and pakoda as evening snack.

Till recently, the children were served only rice-based breakfast items. Now non-veg will be provided six times a month. Ghee and pickle will be served for lunch and dinner every day. A software too has been developed to closely monitor the supply of food to students, daily.

Surprise inspections will be taken up to check on the quality of food served to the students and “any deviation from the prescribed menu chart will be viewed seriously and action will be taken against the catering contractors and officials concerned,” he affirmed.

Hostel cooks will be specially trained to make nutritious food under hygienic conditions food. “We will also measure BMI of the children once in every three months. Teachers, physical directors, house masters and health supervisors along with the principals will be held accountable if any child fails to achieve the desired BMI,” he said.
