‘Sir Alec’, the heritage steam locomotive showcased in front of ‘Rail Nilayam’, the headquarters of the South Central Railway (SCR), has got a make over.
The heritage loco has been beautified with poly urethane painting along with a dash of colour lighting. Another aspect which can catch the eye of the commuters on the busy Sangeeth crossroads to Tarnaka road is the special effects of the artificial steam and smoke generation and loco running sound system so as to generate artificially simulated conditions as if it is on run.
The heritage loco is planned to be showcased with the artificial stimulated conditions in the evenings after dusk till 10 p.m. each day.
The work has been taken up on the initiative of Ravindra Gupta, SCR GM, to beautify the heritage loco.
‘Sir Alec’ Steam Loco, built in the year 1907 by Kitson & Co, Leeds, was a prized possession of the Barsi Light Railway Narrow Guage system.
