One bogey of Narsapur Express got completely burnt while two more were partially damaged after fire broke out inside the train halted at platform no. 5 of Nampally railway station on Sunday.

The train was brought near the platform around 2 p.m. Three hours later, smoke and flames started emanating from one bogey and soon spread to two adjacent bogies. The train was supposed to depart after 9 p.m. The Railway Protection Force and Government Railway Police officials used four fire tenders to put out the flames.

“Short circuit is believed to have led to the fire accident,” the Secunderabad Deputy Superintendent of Railway Police, S. Rajashekhar Rao, said.
