Osmania University has been accorded ‘A+’ Grade and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad given ‘A’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in the assessment done last month.

For OU, the ‘A plus’ status is one notch higher than the ‘A’ grade status it had enjoyed till recently. The University, celebrating its centenary, is the only educational institution from Telangana to be conferred this status in the third cycle of evaluation, said Vice-Chancellor Ramachandram on Tuesday.

Expressing his happiness, he congratulated the entire faculty, non-teaching staff, students and research scholars for their cooperation and concerted efforts.

Academic prestige

The grading now enhances the academic prestige of the university nationally and globally, he said. He attributed the positive outcome of the NAAC visit to the robust systems and practices put in place.

OU Registrar Ch. Gopal Reddy said the long wait for getting NAAC accreditation has ended and hoped that the UGC and other funding bodies will take note of it. IQAC Director SriramVenkatesh, who coordinated the preparations for the NAAC, said the credit goes to each staff member for their due diligence and commitment.

The enhanced grading would refurbish the university’s image which was dented due to the agitation for a separate statehood, officials observed.

In the meantime, JNTU-H Vice Chancellor A. Venugopal Reddy congratulated all the faculty members, students and staff on the occasion of the university getting A Grade from the NAAC.

JNTU-H inks MoU

JNTU-H had also signed a Memorandum of Undertstanding (MoU) with the Hexagon Capability Centre - Hyderabad (HCCI) for imparting training to the students in emerging area of satellite navigation in management of natural resources by setting up a state-of-the-art Global Navigational Satellite System Laboratory (GNSS Lab) with the university providing space for the lab, antenna and other facilities required.

The agreement was signed by JNTU-H Registrar N. Yadaiah, and HCCI CFO Ballav Mundra in the presence of the V-C and other senior academics.

Students to gain

The lab once functional will add value to the course curricula besides facilitating research projects in the field by the post-graduates, scholars and faculty for developing advanced applications.

HCCI is also to provide internships to the students with financial support and job opportunities.

This will not be limited to the students of the Centre for Spatial Information Technology (CSIT) but also to those with geo-informatics background from other centres of JNTU also, an official spokesperson informed.

The NAAC awarded ‘A’ grade to Anurag Group of Institutions, according to a statement issued here.
