Miscreants continue to strike unabashedly

October 01, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Even though the police have launched a manhunt to nab the inter-State gang responsible for a series of chain snatchings reported in the city on Tuesday, two more women became the victims of the offenders on Wednesday.

Two bike-borne offenders grabbed a gold chain weighing three and a half tolas from a housewife at Malkajgiri at around 4.15 p.m. on Wednesday. The woman, S. Sangeeta Yadav (38) of Satyareddy Colony, was returning home after picking up her children from a school. “The offenders pulled the gold chain from the woman near DM Hospital and escaped. Sangeeta suffered a cut on her neck,” Malkajgiri police said. The snatchers were riding a Pulsar motorcycle.

In Vanasthalipuram, two persons on a bike yanked away with a gold chain weighing four tolas from a housewife, Varalakshmi (35) at Agamayyanagar at around 1.15 p.m., the police said.

Meanwhile, the police formed special teams to nab an inter-State gang from North India, who they believed committed chain snatchings in the city in last couple of days. The police claimed the gang comprising a dozen offenders came to the city in DCM vehicles along with the motorcycles a couple of days ago.
