‘Mineral funds’ for better school amenities

August 29, 2018 12:40 am | Updated 12:40 am IST - SURYAPET

Minister for Energy and SC Development G. Jagadish Reddy on Tuesday said the District Mineral Foundation (DMF) funds will be used for building infrastructure in government schools and primary health centres.

The rationale

Holding a DMF meeting here at the Collectorate, Mr. Reddy said spending the mineral fund for infrastructure would plug leak of funds and ensure utility. And in that direction, he instructed the departments concerned to prepare proposals at the earliest.

Toilets, drinking and running water, fencing walls in all government schools and residential facilities is a priority, he said.

Along with schools, primary health centres in the district would also be strengthened for better service delivery. Officials informed a few schools in Suryapet have already started the works.

The Energy Minister who then visited Nalgonda, along with Member of Parliament Gutha Sukender Reddy, observed that several Zilla Parishad High Schools in the district with a high student strength are in immediate need of amenities.

Mr. Sukender Reddy informed that schools in Kondamallepally, Kothapally and others started works, but they are presently pending for the want of funds. The DMF funds could be appropriately used there, he suggested.

District Collectors K. Surendra Mohan and Gaurav Uppal were present.
