MIM leader killed in front of his house

January 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A leader of Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM), Saleem, was stabbed to death in front of his house at Jalpally in Pahadisharieff on Thursday night.

The accused were identified as Saleem’s neighbour, Habeeb, the latter’s brother-in-law Jahangir and their associates. Saleem was the MPTC member of Jalpally. The accused rang up him late in the night and asked him to come out stating that they wanted to meet him.

“As Saleem stepped out, Jahangir and others stabbed him indiscriminately with a knife and later smashed his head with a boulder,” the Shamshabad ACP R. Sudarshan said on Friday. Jahangir of Jahanuma had given Rs. 12,000 to Saleem to regularise a plot of 100 square yards located in Jalpally six months ago.

With the government announcing a scheme for people to regularise their plots, Jahangir started pressuring Saleem to return his money.

On Thursday afternoon, Habeeb’s wife picked up an argument with the MPTC urging him to return his brother’s money when the latter allegedly slapped her husband, the police said.
