Ahead of the 72nd Independence Day, micro artist Mattewada Ajay Kumar has come up with yet another striking piece of art — a flag bearer on a horse on the tip of a pin.

A Limca Book record holder, Mr Ajay Kumar told The Hindu that intricacies of the creation can be seen only through a microscope. The flag is 0.22 mm high and 0.43 mm wide, while the horse rider measures 1.38 mm in height and 1.69 mm in width. It is placed on a pin that is 0.90 mm high and its head measures 1.169 mm. “It took me 28 hours to complete this project,” he explains.

Earlier, Mr Ajay Kumar came up with a statue of Lord Vinayaka in the eye of a needle and that of Jesus Christ as well. His work has been featured in several national newspapers and television channels. His works are in collected by art lovers in Kerala, Chennai and Mumbai. Soon, he would organise an exhibition of his creations, he said.

A gold smith by vocation, Mr. Ajay Kumar has been in this miniature sculpting field for nearly 30 years. He can be reached at ajaymicroarts@gmail.com and on 9849077646.
