108 staff put off strike by a day

May 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The over 300 employees from 108 emergency services in Telangana have postponed their proposed total strike by 24 hours following intervention of officials from the Labour Department. The employees, demanding for a pay rise, have received a letter from Labour Commissioner for a meeting on Friday to sort out all the issues. “If the talks with the labour commissioner fails, then we will go on strike from the midnight of May 8. All our demands are just and the State government has to listen to our issues positively,” said 108 Emergency Services Employees Union, Mahender Reddy.
