Maoist surrenders to police

A CPI (Maoist) central regional bureau (CRB) press team member Kadavancha Yakaswamy surrendered before the police in the presence of City Police Commissioner V. Ravinder here.

A resident of Timmampet village of Zaffergadh mandal in Jangaon district, Yakaswamy joined the Maoist party in January this year and worked as a member in the protection team of the Telangana State Committee secretary Yapa Narayana alias Haribhushan for five months.

Earlier in 2016, he worked as Jangaon district secretary of Telangana Praja Vedika. The Police Commissioner said, the surrendered Naxal worked for the Telangana Praja Vedika since 2013 and joined the Maoist party as he was encouraged by some leaders of the Vedika. “He carries a reward of ₹ 1 lakh on his head and it will be given to him to enable him lead a normal life,” he said.

Mr. Ravinder appealed to leaders of armed groups to surrender before the police. The State government was ready to provide all support. Additional DCP (Crimes) Billa Ashok Kumar and other officials were present.
