October 25, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:36 am IST - HYDERABAD:

A labourer, Srinivas, sustained injuries when a JCB machine, engaged by the revenue officials, demolished his house at Jawaharnagar on Saturday afternoon.

He was asleep when his house was demolished.

The victim was rushed to a private hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

A team of officials from the Revenue Department descended on Devendernagar and started demolition of houses that they said where constructed after encroaching the government land.

However, the locals claimed that they bought the land from some local persons.

Tension prevails

Soon after the incident, tension prevailed in the area. Local leaders from various political parties castigated revenue officials for their negligence.

They were pacified only when the local police official intervened and assured to take action against those found guilty.

Meanwhile, the local revenue officials stated that they checked the house before taking up demolition and ensured that nobody was inside when demolition was going on. They were clueless as to how Srinivas managed to stay put in the house.
