A 40-year-old man sexually assaulted his minor daughter at their home in Zeba Bagh of Asifnagar on July 30, police said. Since then the accused is absconding.

The incident came to light only on Friday, when the victim’s mother along with her parents approached Asif Nagar police to register a case, after searching for the accused at their native place in Bidar of Karnataka for more than a week. Police said that on July 30 between 10 p.m and 11 p.m. the accused entered the house and asked his son to go out before forcing himself on his 10-year-old daughter. The survivor’s mother was out to sell rotis.

Soon after assaulting her, the accused fled way from the scene. The survivor narrated the incident to her mother after she returned home and soon they rushed to Bidar in search of the accused, a police officer said on condition of anonymity.

“When they couldn’t locate him in Bidar, the victim along with her mother and grandparents returned to Hyderabad to lodge the complaint,” he said, adding that a case of rape and sections of POCSO Act were invoked against the accused.

Further, the officer refused to divulge more details and maintained that investigation is on and police teams were sent to Bidar to nab the accused.
