October 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:39 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The Delhi police on Friday brought a person, who was planning to abduct rich people for ransom here, having nabbed him at Noida three days ago.

The person was caught by a special party of the Delhi police on a tip-off. A short firearm was recovered from him.

“Initially, he feigned innocence but eventually, some telephone numbers with addresses in Hyderabad collected from him raised suspicions if he and his gang specifically targeted anyone,” city police officials told The Hindu .

He was arrested and remanded in judicial custody there.

Later, he was taken into police custody for further investigation. To ascertain the links of the accused with the city, he and his associate were brought by the Delhi police to the city.

However, investigators didn’t find any evidence to suggest that he had associates in Hyderabad. The accused was taken back to Delhi.
