A 40-year-old man from Shabad allegedly impregnated his minor daughter after raping her repeatedly during the last 10 months. The man was also accused of killing the girl’s mother a decade ago, but acquitted.
The 16-year-old girl’s plight came to light on Sunday evening. According to the Shabad police, the school-going girl’s aunt recently noticed bodily changes in her and questioned the teenager about it. The girl revealed that her father had been sexually assaulting her since January. The police withheld the name of the 40-year-old accused to prevent identification of the victim. “The family, along with local health workers, administered a pregnancy test and found out that the girl is pregnant. She has not been medically examined yet so the status of her pregnancy is not known. We have registered a case against the father,” said Station House Officer M. Ravi Kumar.
