A 48-year-old Sharjah-returned man, who tried to flee the country after duping over 50 unemployed youth on pretext of providing overseas job visa, was arrested by Hyderabad police here on Monday. ₹8.6 lakh, 3,100 US dollars and other documents were seized from his possession

The arrested was identified as Vosa Gangadhar alias Golivadaa Gangadhar alias Kasturi Prakash Rajaram of KPHB colony here. Police said that he held three passports and three Aadhaar cards on different names.

Hyderabad Commissioner of Police Anjani Kumar said that Gangadhar got acquainted with the visa processing procedure and documentation work for immigration to foreign countries before cheating gullible overseas job aspirants to countries like Israel, Jordan and Ecuador, by collecting huge amount.

Further, the accused told the aspirants that they can migrate from Ecuador to United States of America via Panama, Mexico as refugees, where they can live permanently by earning American dollars. The accused, who posed himself as travel agent and collected ₹4 to ₹5 lakh from each candidate, was apprehended by Commissioner’s Task Force (Central Zone) team led by S. Srinivasa Rao.

“After getting the amount and the passports he used to book flight tickets and finish documentation work, while hotel invitation letters were processed by Puneeth, owner of Indo-Israel Travels located in Gantaghar, New Delhi, and then eventually postponed the further processing,” Mr. Kumar said.

The fraud came to light when some of the candidates grew desperate over the delay in receiving visas and the accused’s phone became unreachable.

So far, he is involved in six criminal cases in Hyderabad and Karimnagar, Nizambad Commissionerates and Kamareddy.

According to Mr. Kumar, the accused approached Imran of I-Link Travels Pvt. Ltd. in Abids and requested him to book two tickets to Ecuador for himself and his son Vosa Sunnydhar. He was trying to escape from India.
