Low cost city, but fewer opportunities

City has lower employee attrition rate, says recruiting startup

The employee attrition rate in Hyderabad is 40 % to 60 % lower than that of Bengaluru. This is not only due to a rich talent pool and lower cost of living, but also due to fewer available opportunities.

According to research by outbound recruiting startup Belong, the results were a result of analysing a data of the past two years of several tech giants with a presence in both cities. The size of the data set was 2 lakh.

Describing Hyderabad as a cost-effective city, Belong co-founder Rishabh Kaul said that metros such as Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru have spatial or civic facility constrains. He said that apart from favourable IT and industrial policies of Telangana, a lower cost of living has made the city an attractive destination for professionals.

Comparing the attrition rates in the city compared to Bengaluru, Mr. Kaul said that IT and ITeS professionals in Bengaluru have a larger number of options as compared to Hyderabad. This, he said, is another important reason for the lower attrition rate in the city.

Explaining how data was obtained Mr. Kaul said: “Data comes from our own system which is a mix of partnerships as well as data we receive from other players.”
