A 30-year-old labourer was electrocuted on Tuesday after an iron rod he was carrying at a construction site came in contact with a overhead power cable.

According to the L B Nagar police, the victim is Tirupati Goud. He was working at a three-storey building under construction near Anand Nagar Crossroads around 2.30 pm when the freak mishap took place.

L B Nagar sub-inspector Ravi Kumar said the overhead power cable was around 15 feet away from the construction site. But the iron rod which the victim was carrying was about 25 feet in length.

The victim is survived by wife.

“So far, no complaint has been received by us. We are collecting information. When a complaint is made, we will book a case against the building owner,” said Mr Kumar.
