‘KTR, Talasani conspiring to usurp land’

May 29, 2017 11:29 pm | Updated 11:30 pm IST - HYDERABAD

Former Minister and senior Congress leader M. Shashidhar Reddy on Monday charged TRS Ministers K. T. Rama Rao and T. Srinivas Yadav with conspiring to usurp land on the Necklace road by forcibly getting the Ambedkar slum residents to vacate on the pretext of constructing double bedroom houses.

At a press conference, Mr. Reddy said no notices were issued to the residents and the Government was going ahead with the eviction without taking up any construction of houses on the premise that the Supreme Court had disallowed any permanent construction near Hussainsagar Lake.

The Minister also went back on their word to construct alternative two-bedroom houses on a seven-acre site in S.R. Nagar in lieu of vacating the slum. Both the GHMC and district collectorate were disclaiming any responsibility in issuing notices or taking up enumeration to provide for any possession certificates.
