Kiran for speedy action in flood affected areas

Chief Minister N.Kiran Kumar Reddy has directed Chief Secretary Minnie Mathew and other officials to identify all low lying areas in the limits of GHMC and workout measures for rehabilitation of those residing in those areas, in view of the recent flooding and the consequent damage.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that the rain damaged 3,600 houses, and that already 80 teams were actively enumerating the flood affected. They said relief works would be taken up soon.

During the briefing held in the Secretariat on Monday, Mr. Reddy also enquired about rain forecast and directed the officials to ensure supply of sufficient seeds and fertilisers.

Officials informed the Chief Minister that works for rail over-bridge at Hi-tec City would be taken up shortly, as the design had been finalised.

Repairs to Vamsadhara canal, and damage to paddy nurseries came up for discussion in the meeting.

The Chief Minister also sought report about the reported damage to papaya farms by elephants in Chittoor district.
