Congress leaders have expressed shock over the way Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is refusing to follow orders of the High Court on the TSRTC employees’ strike and said that the act of deliberately disobeying the judiciary shows that he wants to portray himself as being above the law.
Former Minister Shabbir Ali told reporters here that the Chief Minister has even disobeyed the court’s directive to appoint a full-time managing director for the TSRTC and that attitude will not be tolerated by Telangana people.
Earlier, senior leaders of Congress met at Mr. Ali’s residence to discuss the strategy to be adopted for the proposed siege of Pragati Bhavan, the official residence of the Chief Minister, on Monday.
The meeting attended by TPCC working president and Malkajgiri MP A. Revanth Reddy, Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkatreddy, AICC member Daya Sagar and other senior leaders discussed the protest plan.
The party had earlier set a deadline of October 19 for the government to resolve the TSRTC employees’ strike, failing which it would lay siege to Pragati Bhavan.
The leaders felt that by engineering large-scale defections, KCR tried to dismantle the legislature and also reduced the importance of executive by not consulting IAS officers on important issues. “Now, he is mocking the judiciary by not following the directives of High Court. This is an alarming situation. Immediate corrective measures must be taken to restore democracy in Telangana,” Mr. Shabbir Ali said.
He also alleged that the Chief Minister wants to punish the RTC employees for disobeying his orders to end the strike and that he was neither concerned about the inconvenience caused to commuters nor the problems of RTC employees.
