The tradition followed by the residents of Jammikunta town in Karimnagar district of singing national anthem every day would complete two years on Thursday, the Independence Day.
The singing of the national anthem was started on August 15, 2017, by the local police led by the then Jammikunta Circle Inspector P. Prashanth Reddy. The aim was to inculcate the values of democracy and patriotism among the residents of the town.
Every day, the town comes to a grinding halt as its residents sing the national anthem, be it at the town circle, on roads or indoors. The police have installed loud speakers at the police station that blares out the anthem every day at 7.54 a.m. The Police Department has also installed public address systems at 17 locations to play the national anthem aloud every day. The police hoist the tricolour at the station, after which they sing the anthem joined in by all the residents.
Meanwhile, the police personnel, led by Inspector Srujan Reddy, have decided to celebrate the Independence Day on a grand scale. With the help of the locals, they have tastefully decorated the town for the occasion.
On Thursday, thousands of residents of the town, including students and others, would come on to the roads to sing the national anthem at exactly 7.54 a.m.
