Over 7.82 crore digital records of Aadhaar data and Voter ID belonging to individuals of both the Telugu States was found in possession of IT Grids (India) Private Limited, investigators said.

“After examining the size of the database, we found that it is similar to the original database of Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI),” they said.

The firm which is facing data theft charges developed TDP’s Seva Mitra app and integrated the same data in the app used by the party cadre for advancing electoral prospects.

Based on the information given by the nine-member Special Investigation Team, the UIDAI Hyderabad regional deputy director Bhavani Prasad lodged a complaint with the Madhapur police on Friday, following which the police registered a case under 37, 38-a, 38-b, 40, 42 and 44 of Aadhaar (Targeted delivery of financial and other subsidies, benefits and service) Act 2016. The case was further transferred to SIT led by IG (West Zone) Stephen Ravindra.

The investigators refused to comment when asked about the action being taken to arrest IT Girds CEO Ashok Dakavaram, who has reportedly taken shelter in Andhra Pradesh,.
