Inter marks fiasco: TS BJP seeks Amit Shah intervention

Party president K. Laxman submits a representation to Home Minister during his visit to Delhi

To up the ante against the TRS government, the Bharatiya Janata Party Telangana unit has sought the intervention of Home Minister Amit Shah to advice the State government to take action against the officials concerned in view of the goof up in Intermediate results and the consequent suicide of 27 students. Party president K. Laxman made a representation to the Home Minister during his visit to New Delhi on the weekend on the issue.

He had also met the interim national party president, J.P. Nadda, and several Union Ministers to discuss the pending issues of Telangana with them. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was requested to permit ceding of defence land to take up construction of flyovers from Secunderabad to Suchitra junction/Kompally and also from Secunderabad to Tumkunta via Alwal.

When he met Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Jairam Gadkari, the BJP leader requested him to declare the existing State highway from Kalwakurthy (NH-167) in Telangana to Karivena (NH-340C) in A.P. as national highway by constructing a bridge across River Krishna at Somasila, six-laning of NH-44 from Bowenpally to Medchal via Kompally and allocation of funds for development of Hyderabad-Chevella-Parigi- Bijapur National Highway, a dry port through Godavari and Krishna rivers.

In a representation to Railways Minister Piyush Goyal, he sought construction of broadguage railway line connecting Jadcharla in Telangana and Nandyala (182 km) in A.P., another one to connect Gadwal in TS and Macherla in A.P. and for introduction of new trains in TS like Anthyodaya, Tejas, Hamsafar and Uday.

Establishment of a tribal university and an Indian Institute of Management in TS, increasing the number of Navodaya schools as well as Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) was sought from Union Minister for HRD Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, while Union Minister for Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad was urged to increase the sanctioned strength of judges in the Telangana High Court.

Representations were also submitted to Ministers concerned about developing Buddhist centres, establishing aviation university, and releasing more funds for Forest Research Institute at Bahadurpally in Medchal district.
