Sultan Bazaar police booked a case against INOX Leisure Multiplex in Kachiguda after activist Vijay Gopal lodged a complaint stating that the theatre played advertisements delaying the screening of movies.

Mr Gopal said he went to the multiplex on June 22 and realised that the screening was delayed for around 15 minutes on account of the ads.

“We buy tickets and make arrangements to reach the theatre on time. But playing ads which eats into movie screening time is indulging in unfair trade practices,” he claimed. He said the police initially declined to take the complaint but later gave in. “They lodged an FIR under the Cinemas Regulation Act of 1955 on Thursday,” he said.

Sultan Bazaar inspector K. Subbarami Reddy confirmed an FIR has been registered. “We will examine the case before taking further action,” he said.
