In a bid to create more lung space for citizens living in the city’s periphery, the Forest Department is all set to develop reserve forests around the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in the near future.

After inaugurating the Bhagyanagar Nandanavanam nature park on October 10, work on the Kandlakoi Reserve Forest is all set to be initiated in November.

“The State-level steering committee of the Compensatory Afforestation Funds Management and Plantation Authority (CAMPA) is yet to be formed. The committee of unified Andhra Pradesh had approved the Kandlakoi nature park, but due to bifurcation, the process has to be initiated again by the Telangana government,” said P.K. Sharma, Chief Wild Life Warden (CWW), Telangana.

Mr. Sharma said the steering committee would be formed in a few weeks and there was a ‘slight’ delay since some technical issues arising post-bifurcation were yet to be resolved.

“Our target is to develop and start the Kandlakoi park by June 2015. Work will begin in November, once the project is cleared,” he said.

Like the Bhagynagar Nandanavanam nature park, the other reserve forests are all set to be developed in and around the Outer Ring Road (ORR) areas by the State’s Forest Department.
