A host of leaders, most of them belonging to Telangana, including Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, paid their respects to former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao on his death anniversary at PV Ghat on Necklace Road on Tuesday.

The Chief Minister spent almost 40 minutes at the memorial erected for the former Prime Minister, listening to the renditions of classical music by a team of artists led by Vasa Gopinath Rao, Principal, Government College of Music.

All-faith prayers

Also, prayers were rendered by people representing different faiths.

Also present on the occasion were Narasimha Rao’s son P.V. Rajeshwar Rao, daughters Surashi Vani Devi, Jaya Nandan, grandchildren and others.

On arrival, Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao paid floral tributes, as did the Deputy Chief Minister Mohd. Mahmood Ali and Ministers, T. Harish Rao, Naini Narsimha Reddy, P. Mahender Reddy, Jupally Krishna Rao, Jagadheeshwar, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, Tummala Nageswara Rao and Indrakaran Reddy. Assurance to relatives

Family members expressed their happiness at the manner in which the death anniversary was organised by the Telangana government.

However, P.V. Madan Mohan, son of Mr. Narasimha Rao’s younger brother Manohar Rao told the Chief Minister that clarity was still lacking as to whether the death anniversary was being observed officially on behalf of the Government. Mr. Chandrasekhar Rao assured them that it was a small matter and saying that it would be taken care of, asked the family members to appraise Advisor to Government K.V. Ramanachari of the matter.
