Used to silence victims of sodomy by offering money

When police quizzed the minor held in connection with the killing of a 10-year-old boy, the 17-year-old flatly rejected all questions on the whereabouts of the missing boy Ahmed Khan.

With the video clip of the juvenile with the missing boy at Barkas already in their possession, the investigators sat with him patiently.

In the beginning, he firmly denied having any information about the boy. But when the police officials showed him the video clip, was taken aback. “That was when he started making the startling revelations. First, he admitted that he killed the boy,” South zone DCP V. Satyanarayana said on Thursday.

Two years ago, he was sodomised by two people who had offered him ₹20 for keeping the incident to himself. The juvenile said he began indulging in similar act and had targeted 15 boys, according to the police. “He chose boys two to three years younger to him in and around Barkas of Chandrayanagutta,” the investigators said.

His father works in a prayer hall. He dropped out of school and started doing odd jobs. Nearly three years back, he fled home and went to Mumbai telling his family members that he would live by selling lime water there. Eventually, he returned home and started working in a ‘pan’ shop.

He used to lure boys younger to him to the abandoned hostel building located close to the Government school near his house.

“The hostel building was locked and tied with a steel chain. Creating a gap between the doors by pulling the chain, he used to take boys inside,” Mr. Satyanarayana said.

Around 2.30 p.m. on June 28, he took the boy to the terrace of that building and sexually assaulted him, the investigators said. As the boy complained of pain, he offered him ₹20 and asked him to keep quiet.

“The juvenile then persuaded him not to raise the matter since his elder sister's marriage was to be held in the next two to three days,” the DCP said.

When the ‘victim’ didn’t comply, the accused kicked him, tied his limbs with a rope and then beat him to death, the investigators said.

From the next day, the juvenile used to go to the terrace everyday whenever he had time and look at the body.

After his sister's marriage, the minor went to the boy's house and assured his parents that the boy would return someday. He even served food to them asking them not to worry about the missing boy, the police said.
