Chief Secretary S. P. Singh on Wednesday directed officials of the civic departments to conduct joint inspections for the construction of multi level parking facilities being proposed to be constructed in various locations across the twin cities by the GHMC for better traffic management.

Addressing a meeting on the construction of multi level parking complexes at the secretariat with heads of various departments, he said that multi level parking complexes are being constructed taking into consideration the requirements of the future.

Going through the plans of the proposed location wise parking complexes at Gaddiannaram, Saroornagar, NTR Nagar, Chaderghat and Old Gandhi mortuary with the officials concerned, he stressed the need for proper and effective traffic management.

GHMC, which is taking up the construction of the parking complexes, should protect the interests of the respective departments on whose land the parking complexes are being built, he said and also suggested that TSRTC should study the possibility of taking up construction of cellar parkings in all its bus stations, terminals and bus depots.

TSRTC officials should also take the initiative to integrate metro rail, MMTS and bus station parking as most of the traffic originates from the bus stations. Later, Mr. Singh also reviewed the status of relocation of polluting industries in Bholakpur and wanted officials to furnish proposals for allocation of land to relocate the existing leather industries and to also build a modern quality abattoir.

Mayor B. Rammohan, Principal Secretary Transport, R&B Sunil Sharma, Secretary of Municipal Administration Navin Mittal, Metrorail MD NVS Reddy, GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy, HMDA Commissioner T. Chiranjeevulu and other officials were present.
