The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has created a record by collecting ₹437.75 crore property tax under its ‘Early Bird Scheme’, which offers 5% rebate on the current year’s dues. This is ₹75.21 crore more than last year’s collection at ₹362.54 crore.

The scheme ended on April 30, and garnered payments from more than 5.32 lakh tax payers. Of them, over 1.96 lakh paid through online, which itself is a record, a statement from GHMC said on Tuesday.

On the last day, close to ₹77 crore was collected through the scheme, which helped the GHMC exceed its target of ₹400 crore.

Jubilee Hills, and Serilingampally have recorded the highest collection, while Chandrayangutta did the least.
