Function halls asked to shun plastics

March 27, 2018 12:22 am | Updated 12:22 am IST - HYDERABAD

After its drive against plastic covers, which has not yielded results despite raids on plastic cover manufacturers, function halls have become the next target of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation. The GHMC has announced that it would take up a drive against usage of plastic items in functions in view of the large number of weddings scheduled in the second week of April in the city. Municipal Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy has informed that the corporation would make efforts to wean the function halls away from use of plastic cups and plates in favour of steel and glass utensils. As part of the ‘Green Festival’, awareness meetings would be conducted for the hall organisers at different levels.
