Teachers of Government Model Schools, under the banner of Progressive Model School Teachers’ Association of Telangana State (PMTA-TS), took out a rally from NTR Chowrasta here on Thursday and later staged a dharna in front of the Collectorate protesting delay in the implementation of their long-pending demands.

Their demands include general transfers, implementation of junior lecturer scale for Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) teaching at model schools, issuance of health cards or medical reimbursement on the lines of government employees, notional service to teachers who have joined under one notification but at different times due to delay in verification of certificates, 43% fitment, appointment of more number of TGTs among others.

In a memorandum submitted to the authorities, the PMTA-TS representatives – P. Chandrashekar and B. Srinivas Raju – said they would intensify their struggle if the government did not fulfil their demands.

On September 1, protest rallies would be taken out to Collectorates and memorandums would be submitted to MLAs, MLCs, MPs and Ministers.

On September 7, the PMTA members would lay siege to the Office of District Educational Officer, they said.
