Freedom fighter ends life

He was reportedly depressed over his failing health

A 93-year-old freedom fighter from Hyderguda hanged himself at an old age home in Dundigal on Thursday.

The staff at the old age home in Burampet found N. Narsimha Rao, who stayed on the first floor, hanging to the railing in the morning, police said.

The family of the nonagenarian told police that he was depressed over his failing health and may have ended his life over it.

Man hit by truck dies

A 58-year-old tailor of Chintalkunta was killed when the scooter he was riding was hit by a truck at L.B. Nagar on Thursday. Police said J. Lakshman Rao picked up his granddaughter from college and was returning home when the accident took place. The man sustained injuries and died on the spot while the girl escaped with minor injuries.

In a separate accident at Tank Bund on Thursday, a 21-year-old student was killed when a vehicle hit him. B. Prashanth Rao of Bhoiguda had gone for a morning walk when the incident occurred. Death was instant for him.
