Nearly 40 per cent of foreign students who got their provisional admissions in Osmania University this academic year could not join the varsity because of political unrest and visa issues in their countries, said C. Venugopal Rao, Director, University Foreign Relations Office (UFRO), Osmania University (OU).
Addressing the eighth annual graduation ceremony held by the UFRO for foreign students, Prof. Rao mentioned that 1,098 students from various countries obtained their final admission this academic year. Prof. Rao also mentioned that about 70 per cent of foreign students admitted are studying undergraduate courses, while the rest 30 per cent are enrolled in postgraduate programmes. Courses like BCA, B.Com, MBA, M.Com and others are more in demand, he added.
