Five Hyderabad zone students among JEE Advanced toppers

The zone consists of IITs of Hyderabad, Madras, Tirupati and Palghat

Five students from the Hyderabad zone were among the top 13 rankers in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced for entry into Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), whose results were announced here on Friday.

The Hyderabad zone consists of IIT-Hyderabad, IIT-Madras, IIT-Tirupati and IIT-Palghat covering Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala States.

Gillella Akash Reddy bagged the all-India 4th rank and topped in the IIT-Hyderabad range. Battepati Karthikeya secured 5th rank, Thivesh Chandra secured 8th rank, Amit Rajaraman bagged 12th rank and Gumparthi Venkata Krishna Surya Likhith secured 13th rank emerging toppers in the Hyderabad range.

However, the Delhi zone bagged 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 9th and 11th ranks to top all the zones in the country. While Akash Reddy topped the Hyderabad zone among boys, Surapaneni Sai Vigna, who secured all-India 44th rank, was the topper among girls in the same zone. D. Chandrashekhara S.S. Hethahavya has topped under the general-Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) category.

According to the information released by IIT-Roorkee that conducted the exam this year, a total of 1,61,319 candidates appeared for JEE (Advanced) and of these, 38,705 candidates have qualified. Among these, 5,356 are girls.

Gupta Kartikey Chandresh of Ballarpur topped the exam securing 346 marks out of the total 372. Among girls, Shabnam Sahay of Madhapur was the topper securing 308 marks. Her rank was all-India 10th.

The IIT-Roorkee further revealed that 15,566 general candidates qualified the exam, while 3,636 were declared qualified under the Economically Weaker Sections – general category.

In the OBC category, 7,651 candidates qualified, while 8,758 qualified among SC candidates, and 3,094 qualified among ST candidates.

From Andhra Pradesh, 13,267 candidates appeared for the JEE Advanced and 16,886 students appeared from Telangana.
