Citing different grounds, five Congress nominees who lost the Assembly elections, filed election petitions in Telangana High Court on Thursday seeking to set aside election of their opponents.

Senior leaders Nagam Janaradhan Reddy, D.K. Aruna, Dasoju Sravan Kumar, A. Revanth Reddy and A. Laxman Kumar filed these petitions. They contested from Nagarkurnool, Gadwal, Khairatabad, Kodangal and Dharmpuri respectively. These election petitions are likely to come up for hearing during the next couple of days. Ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidates won over them.

Mr. Revanth Reddy stated in his petition that Income Tax officials had seized ₹51 lakh from a farmhouse owned by Kodangal TRS nominee P. Narender Reddy's brother-in-law. He contended that IT officials had sent reports to the Election Commission officials mentioning that Narender Reddy had distributed ₹1.2 lakh during the election. Even a diary suggesting that ₹6.5 crore were distributed for influencing voters in the election was seized, he said.

Mr. Laxman, who lost to Koppula Eshwar in Dharmapuri, stated that EVMs were tampered with in his constituency. He charged that some officials colluded with Mr. Eshwar in this regard.
