Five persons who posed as reporters and extorted money from the managements of beauty saloons and spas were caught by the Hyderabad Police Task Force (West Zone), on Saturday.

The prime accused A. Surender Raju started a beauty saloon business and shut it down within four months after incurring losses. While he was in the business, some men used to request for massage by women, which he arranged without permission.

After shutting down the saloon, he planned to extort money from the massage parlours posing as a reporter. Along with Surender Raju, four others T. Raghunath Chary, B Ravi, S Kiran Kumar and B Raja Krishna hatched the plan. Raghunath Chary procured reporter’s identity card, which was used to extort money.

They took money from at least two saloons and spas in SR Nagar limits. Based on a tip off, the Task Force team caught the five accused.
