Fishermen’s padayatra reaches Nizamabad

The maha padayatra launched by the Gangaputra Yuvasena to highlight the problems of fishermen community arrived in the town on Monday. Gangaputra Sangham district president N. Ramchander, general secretary Lingam, vice-presidents Swami and Shankar and others received the participants of padayatra who began the journey at Jagityal and the yatra would conclude in Hyderabad next week. The padayatris demanded the Government withdraw the G.O. No. 6, provide the ST status to the community, not to affect the interests of the Gangaputra caste by bringing other castes into its occupation and ensure pensions to all those who crossed 50 years.
