In a unique initiative, the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Hyderabad, would soon issue family tokens for the convenience of members of a same family applying for passport services so that they can go together for processing of applications.

The Regional Passport Officer (RPO), E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, said at present, passport applications were being processed at different time slots as per the online appointment schedules leading to long waiting hours for family members.

From now onwards, members of a same family, who otherwise obtain different appointment slots on a particular day, can avail walk-in with ‘family tokens’ at all the Passport Seva Kendras under the jurisdiction of RPO Hyderabad for submission and processing of their passport applications on a single go. The tokens would be issued at the entry itself if members of a same family show the application forms together, though their allotted slots are on different time.

Earlier, Dr. Reddy inaugurated passport mela conducted exclusively for railway employees at Begumpet, Ameerpet and Tolichowki Passport Seva Kendras in the city. This was the largest passport mela ever organised by RPO Hyderabad with more than 5,500 passport applications registered in a single day.

A.K. Gupta, Additional General Manager, SCR, Secunderabad and N.V. Ramana Reddy, Chief Personnel Officer, SCR were among those present.
