Entry fee to zoological park hiked

Visitors to the Nehru Zoological Park in the city would have to pay a slightly higher fee for entry and rides to safari and in battery operated vehicles from June 12.

The revision of ticket costs, being affected after 11 years, would see the main entry fee being increased from present Rs.20 to Rs.30 for adults and Rs.10 to Rs.15 for children. The ticket cost of battery operated vehicle would be increased from Rs.40 to Rs.50 for adults and from Rs.20 to Rs.30 for children. The safari ride tickets too get hiked from Rs.30 to Rs.40 for adults and Rs.15 to Rs.20 for children, according to a press release. The Zoos and Parks Authority of Telangana, which recently met under the chairmanship of Jogu Ramanna, Minister for Environment, Forests, Science and Technology, had approved the revision of the fee effective from June 12. The hike was being implemented to meet the expenditure involved in animal welfare, said Gopi Ravi, Curator, Nehru Zoological Park. - Special Correspondent
