The Women Safety Wing of Telangana Police on Thursday launched a free e-learning course to increase the horizon of training activities carried out by SHE Teams across the State.

“The purpose of the course is to raise public awareness on women safety,” said Swati Lakra, IG (Law and Order) and In-charge Women Safety Wing.

With this new course, one can identify the various types and consequences of sexual harassment in public places and cyber crimes, she said during an event organised on the fifth anniversary of SHE Teams.

SHE Teams was launched on October 24, 2014, to curb harassment against women at public places and ‘correct’ misguided youth.

“We encourage citizens, especially college students well-equipped with technology, to take these courses and learn online at their convenient time,” she said. This course is available for free on https://sheteams.swifthcm.com.

“A total of 310 SHE Teams are working round the clock in coordination with the local police across the State. The teams identify hotspots and carry out regular surveillance to nab the wrongdoers,” she said.

Each team is led by a sub-inspector, a lady constable and three male constables, all equipped with latest spy cameras to record the mischief of wrongdoers before apprehending them. Also, trained counsellors hold sessions for those caught harassing women in the presence of their family members and later monitor their activities to deter them from repeating it.
