Doctors protest management’s indifference

May 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:40 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Trouble broke out at Gandhi Hospital on Friday when senior doctors and medicos protested against the apparent inaction of the management to repair lifts that have been defunct for over a month.

Doctors from Telangana Government Doctors Association (TGDA) protested and raised slogans against the management for not taking up repairs.

“In all, there are nearly 18 lifts but only one lift is functioning. On Friday, that one lift was also not working. On several occasions, we complained to authorities to take up repairs but nobody has acted on the complaints,” the protesting doctors said.

Senior doctors pointed out that patients, doctors and visitors were using a single lift.

“There was only one functional lift during the swine flu outbreak. Doctors, health care workers, visitors and patients shared the same lift. It is high time the authorities repair the lifts,” the TGDA members said.  The doctors charged the medical and health department with being oblivious to their troubles.
