Demand for another 3,722 auto permits

November 28, 2011 10:42 am | Updated 10:42 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Auto drivers on Sunday demanded the government to issue 3,722 permits in addition to the 3,500 new permits that were sanctioned recently.

In its recent GO 133, the government said that 68,469 auto-rickshaws were operating in the city.

But in GO 339 issued in April last, it informed that only 64,395 auto-rickshaws were plying in the city, which is contradictory, said Mohd. Amanullah Khan at a press conference here.

“There is a difference of 4,070 permits, of which, 352 permits were sanctioned to Ranga Reddy district. Rest of the 3,722 permits are yet to be issued as per government records. These should be given to eligible auto drivers,” Mr. Khan demanded.

These permits should be issued to auto drivers taking bank loans only and not private financiers Auto should not be transferable for a period of five years, he said.
