Court notice to SCB on removal of V-P

June 02, 2011 12:53 pm | Updated 12:53 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

The City Civil Court, Secunderabad issued notices to Secunderabad Cantonment Board president, chief executive officer and other Board members on a petition seeking removal of Banuka Narmada as vice-president of the board.

Banuka Narmada, a ward member of SCB is the wife of Banuka Mallikarjun, who was arrested by the CBI last month on charges of constructing buildings without permission.

Later, Ms. Narmada was elected as the board vice-president.

The petitioners Sravan Kumar and Giri Babu sought court's intervention as they feared that the CBI probe into illegal building construction would be hampered as the arrested man was the husband of the vice-president.

The petitioners urged the court to direct defence authorities to remove Mrs. Narmada as V-P. Mrs. Narmada was elected as the vice-president of Secunderabad Cantonment Board on May 19 after five of the eight Board members served no confidence motion against the then V-P J. Pratap.
