A constable working with the Kanchanbagh police station was arrested by the police after his wife allegedly ended her life due to dowry harassment.

G. Praveen Kumar (25) from 2014 batch, married G. Pooja two years ago. The couple was living at a rented house in Chandrayangutta for the last eight months. Pooja was pursuing B.Tech course.

On Wednesday, the woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her house. Praveen told the police that he found his wife hanging to the ceiling fan and he immediately brought her down in hope of saving her. But, she had died by then.

However, her parents charged Praveen with harassing his wife and asking her to bring Rs.5 lakh from her parents.

“We have seized the woman’s diary in which she wrote her ordeals. It also mentions that Praveen was harassing her to bring money from her parents,” ACP Falaknuma, M.A. Bari said.
