‘Congress-TDP alliance suicidal’

It will only help TRS, says Harish Rao

Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao termed the reported remarks of Congress leader S. Jaipal Reddy that Congress was ready for an alliance with the T-TDP, ‘suicidal’ and said it would only help Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS). Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Rao said TDP was against Telangana, something which was recently admitted by A.P. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu himself in a meeting in Amaravati on how he tried to stop the State bifurcation till the last minute. The A.P. government has also not supplied 54% share of electricity to Telangana as per bifurcation Act. “If Congress wants to go with TDP, it also will be viewed as anti-Telangana,” he said.

The Minister was also critical of the BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy’s comments on the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy lift irrigation project. The allegations levelled by Mr. Janardhan Reddy were proved wrong earlier and even the High Court had admonished him when he moved the court, Mr. Rao said. “Our process is more transparent that the previous government,” he said.

He also demanded an apology from Mr. Reddy for making ‘derogatory’ comments against the government’s decision to provide goats, sheep and fish seed to the communities depended on that profession. He ridiculed Mr. Reddy asking whether his party was still accepting him as its leader and if so, why was he not being allowed to hold press conferences at the BJP office.
