The district administration and Youth Welfare Department in association with Nehru Yuva Kendra organised ‘Run for Unity’ in connection with 144th birth anniversary of Iron Man Of India and former Deputy Prime Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, here on Thursday. Collector M. Ram Mohan Rao flagged off the run at DSA Ground.
The run that proceeded through main thoroughfares culminated at Rajarajeswara Chowrasta where participants paid homage to Sardar Patel by garlanding his statue.
MP D. Arvind, run convener P.R. Somani, co-convener J. Bapu Reddy, former MLA Yendala Laxminarayana, BJP district president P. Ganga Reddy, party State executive members Baswa Laxminarsaiah and Dhanpal Suryanarayana, students, lawyers, doctors, NCC cadets and volunteers were among those who participated.
At a programme held at Pragati Bhavan, the Collector administered Ekta Diwas oath to youth, students, officials and others.
DRO R. Anjaiah, RDO Venkateswarlu and Municipal Commissioner John Samson were among those who were present.
