Civil contractor hacked to death

Victim was pulled out of his car and attacked by armed gang

A civil contractor from Gachibowli was brutally hacked to death in Peerzadiguda on Wednesday, police said.

The victim, Raji Reddy (35), was reportedly waylaid by an armed gang who attacked him around 7.30 p.m. at Kachavani Singaram under the Medipally police station area. He was chased for a few metres by the attackers, before being killed.

Malkajgiri Deputy Commissioner of Police Ch. R. Umamaheswara Sarma, who visited the crime scene said that assailants dragged him out of his car and started attacking him.

The police, along with the clues team and dog squad, inspected the area for collecting evidences. Reddy is a native of Choutuppal. When asked about the details of attackers, Mr Sarma said that they are yet to identify the assailants and reason for the attack. “Investigation is underway,” he said.

The victim’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital morgue for autopsy and police informed his family members about his death.

CTO arrested

Anti Corruption Bureau officials on Wednesday arrested Commercial Tax Officer of Sanathnagar, N. Venkata Satyanarana Rao, having already caught his subordinate red-handed the previous day while accepting bribe.

Rao’s subordinate, A. Satyanarayana Murthy, Assistant Commercial Tax Officer, was caught at his office in Abids while accepting the bribe of ₹ 25,000 from Sanjay Raghuram of Zoomy Food, Begumpet for an official favour.

“He was arrested in connivance with Murthy had demanded the bribe,” an official release from ACB said.

Techie dies in MP

Ismail Shaik, a city-based software employee, who left home last Saturday on a road trip was reportedly killed in a road accident at Seoni in Bandol police station area in Madhya Pradesh.
