May 08, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:43 am IST - HYDERABAD:

With the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) and Industrial Area Local Authorities (IALAs) volunteering to join the Swachh Hyderabad initiative, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is likely to enhance the division of its jurisdiction to 450 units instead of the earlier proposed 400 units.

According to a press release, each team assigned to a particular unit area would include a staff member from the Electricity Department apart from sanitation, water works and Police Department. The senior officer heading each of the units would be allocated a budget of Rs.50 lakh to initiate works required in their assigned area.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has directed officials to identify poor students who need financial assistance for pursuing higher studies, the press release added.
