Employees of the Telangana State Waqf Board (TSWB) have alleged that Chairman Mohammed Saleem assaulted an official of the rank of inspector-auditor, Syed Ibrahim. According to them, they launched a protest that was a result of Mr. Saleem allegedly assaulting Mr. Ibrahim on Monday.

The official of the rank of inspector-auditor is posted in Adilabad district.

Sources said that the Chairman was unhappy with Mr. Ibrahim writing to a top official of the Telangana Registration and Stamps Department in connection with a land parcel in the district. Mr. Ibrahim was alleged to have not routed the letter through the office of the board of the CEO or the Chairman.

“After writing the letter stating that the land parcel in question is not a Waqf property, Mr. Ibrahim was suspended. Soon after, he started seeking his reinstatement and began to come to the board office requesting for the same. The Chairman got angry and pushed him,” an official said.

Mr. Saleem said, “I have not assaulted him at all. In fact, the inspector-auditor has no right to declare that the particular land is not Waqf property. He was suspended five months ago and an inquiry is pending. He was entering my office and other places where I was, and trying to pressurise me. I will not be cowed down by such acts of intimidation.”
