A few events, including release of a corporate stamp, marked the 150th anniversary celebrations of State Bank of India (SBI) Hyderabad Main Branch on Tuesday.
The Hyderabad Main Branch was established as a branch of Bank of Bengal on December 18, 1868. In 1921, it became a part of the Imperial Bank of India, which morphed into SBI in 1955.
SBI Managing Director (Retail & Digital Banking) Parveen Kumar Gupta and Deputy Managing Director Prashant Kumar participated in the programmes. The activities included inauguration of State Bank Gallery at Gunfoundry branch showcasing the bank legacy along with Hyderabad history and has on display manual ledgers of 1806 and account statements of celebrities. CSR activities were also undertaken to mark the occasion.
A few valued customers and old incumbents and staff, who worked at the Hyderabad Main Branch, were felicitated.
Replacing debit cards
On the exercise of replacing old debit cards with chip-enabled cards for enhanced security, Mr. Gupta, speaking on the sidelines, said December 31 is the deadline and most of the active cards had already been replaced. The bank had approached the Reserve Bank of India, sometime ago, seeking a six-month extension of the deadline in view of the enormity of the task involved.
